THE SENIOR LITIGATION PARALEGAL POSITION
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to help manage a diverse and active litigation portfolio. This role will serve as a key partner to the legal team, providing support across all phases of litigation while helping build the systems, processes, and reporting capabilities that enable the department to operate efficiently and make data-driven decisions.
The ideal candidate combines strong litigation experience with exceptional organizational, analytical, and technology skills. This person is comfortable managing large volumes of matters, leveraging legal technology and AI tools, and transforming litigation data into actionable insights for attorneys and business leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Litigation Management
- Manage a high-volume litigation docket across multiple jurisdictions and subject matters.
- Track case developments, deadlines, budgets, outside counsel activity, and key litigation milestones.
- Coordinate document collection, discovery responses, document productions, and litigation hold.
- Support all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
- Serve as a primary point of coordination between internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
Litigation Operations and Analytics
- Design, implement, and maintain systems for tracking litigation matters, key metrics, and case outcomes.
- Develop reporting dashboards and recurring management reports regarding:
Matter status
Jurisdictional trends
Outside counsel utilization
Resolution timelines
Settlement and litigation spend
Emerging risk areas
- Analyze litigation data and identify trends, opportunities, and operational improvements.
- Generate executive-ready reports and presentations that translate data into actionable recommendations.
Technology and Process Improvement
- Leverage technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability within the litigation function.
- Develop and maintain litigation workflows, playbooks, templates, and standard operating procedures.
- Partner with Legal, IT, Customer Service, and other business teams to improve information gathering and reporting processes.
eDiscovery and Information Management
- Coordinate preservation, collection, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI).
- Manage document repositories, litigation databases, and matter management systems.
- Work closely with outside counsel and vendors on eDiscovery strategy and execution.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate.
- Minimum 7 years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures, discovery obligations, and litigation support processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting tools.
- Experience with eDiscovery platforms, litigation management systems, and legal technology tools.
- Comfort using AI-enabled tools to improve workflows, analyze information, and increase operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and draw meaningful conclusions from data.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building litigation tracking systems or legal operations processes from the ground up.
- Experience creating dashboards, metrics programs, or executive reporting frameworks.
Experience managing litigation budgets and outside counsel performance.
Demonstrated experience managing a substantial litigation portfolio
